Who we are

What we collect

Your name and email address.
Your answers to the four sign-up questions: the language you're learning, your level, where you're learning it and your biggest challenge.
If you choose to fill it in, your answers to the welcome survey (pathway, time, past methods, situations, goals, and an optional question about whether you're preparing for or serving in cross-cultural work).
Basic email activity, such as whether emails are opened or links clicked, which our email service records.
Anything you choose to tell us when you reply to an email.

Why we collect it

To send you the starter plan, PDFs and weekly emails that match your answers (you asked for these when you signed up).
To tailor the course for you during the pilot.
To improve the course and decide what to build next, using answers without your name, if you agreed to this.

Double opt-in

Every form sends a confirmation email first; we only email you after you click it.

Who processes it

Your data is stored by our email service, MailerLite [confirm], and our website is hosted by Netlify [confirm]. Our signup form is a MailerLite form embedded on our website. Only if we switch on our backup form, which runs through Netlify Forms, are your answers stored there too. We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

While you're subscribed, and for up to [period] afterwards. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Your choices and rights

Unsubscribe any time with the link at the bottom of every email.
Ask to see, correct or delete your data by emailing mike@silkroadlanguages.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as complaining to your data-protection authority.

Sensitive information

Please don't send us sensitive personal details you don't want stored.

KVKK aydınlatma metni (Turkish information notice)

Data deletion process

To delete your data, email mike@silkroadlanguages.com with the subject "Delete my data", or reply to any email. We delete your subscriber record and any survey answers from MailerLite within [30] days, remove you from Mike's offline tracker, confirm by email, and keep only what the law requires (for example a record that you unsubscribed, so we don't email you again).

Changes

If we change this notice, we'll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you by email.
